A family vacation checklist for a calm getaway near Bengaluru

The Dome Retreats · Rajanukunte, Bengaluru

A good family weekend isn’t about cramming in activities — it’s about everyone actually unwinding, including the parents. Here’s a simple checklist for a calm getaway just outside Bengaluru.

Before you go

Book early and pick weekdays. Rates are best midweek and the property is quieter. Confirm what’s included — complimentary breakfast, pottery, drum circle, stargazing and pool access come with the stay; candlelight dinners and barbecues are add-ons worth booking at check-in.

What to pack

Comfortable layers for cool dome nights, swimwear for the splash pool or jacuzzi, sun protection for the day, and — the most important item — a willingness to put the phones down. There’s a telescope for the kids at night and a courtyard campfire for the evenings.

Getting there

The Dome Retreats sits near Rajanukunte in North Bengaluru, roughly 45 minutes from Kempegowda International Airport and an easy drive from the city. Nandi Hills, Devanahalli Fort and Lepakshi are within reach if you want a short outing — but most families find they’d rather stay put.

A relaxed rhythm

Check-in is at 1pm, a floating breakfast arrives at 8am, and checkout is a gentle 11am. Pottery in the afternoon, a drum circle at dusk, stars after dinner. No schedule to keep — just a weekend that slows down to your family’s pace.
